With Basquiat and Haring paving the way for graffiti artists taking their art off the street and onto the canvas, graffiti artworks are now a must-have for your home decor. Discover our collection of graffiti wall art that has the raw energy of a street piece and the intention and finish of a studio work.

From Jean-Michel Basquiat to Shepard Fairey, street artists are known for their creative expressions of rebellion. Keith Haring famously turned the New York City subway system into his canvas, KAWS broke into telephone booths and graffitied their advertising panels, and Banksy played a trick on the art world when he shredded his million-dollar canvas Girl With Balloon (2006) after it sold at auction. Today, there are more ways than ever to bring the defiant style of street art into the home, from salvaged graffitied walls from the 1980s to just-released print editions by emerging talent.

Street artists are generally best known for the art they make, well, on the street. But many tend to produce a huge range of works, from limited edition objects like skateboard decks and toys to licensed, mass-produced goods like hats and shirts, as well as more conventional fare like signed and numbered prints, and unique works like paintings and sculptures.

Landmark Street Art works directly with prominent graffiti and street artists like Ben Eine, AME72, Tabby,Stik, Angus, Static, Lucie Flynn, Luke Smile, Jacqueline de Montaigne and Banksy to provide an eclectic portfolio from the modern contemporary and street art scenes.

We are proud to have exhibited at the Moniker Art Fair in London in October 2018 where we showcased our street art originals and prints from Ben Eine, Tabby and AME72. If we talk about street art paintings, they contain a jocular, sarcastic style with a great deal of satire. In the 70s of New York, graffiti had experienced a boom, going from being urban art of stylized text painted with spray to evolve into murals more centered on images, recognizable and with socio-political contexts.

Oil takes ages to dry. In order for someone to take the time to paint in oil, and then sit on a street corner selling it so that s/he can make enough to eat in (ta && ta.queueForLoad ? ta.queueForLoad : function(f, g)document.addEventListener('DOMContentLoaded', f);)(function()ta.trackEventOnPage('postLinkInline', 'impression', 'postLinks-43331072', '');, 'log_autolink_impression');Paris, they would have to sell it for a small fortune, or be a student, or living off grants, or independantly wealthy.

There are still a number of old-fashioned street artists along the Seine (on Quai de la Megisserie / Pont Neuf in particular), but they are mostly waterlocolor artists. Sometimes, they also double as second-hand book sellers, from the metal bookcases along the Seine banks.

The nicest stuff i have seen in the street was by the Pompidou. Ignoring the caricaturists there is one fellow who does lovely ink wash pictures . The oils i have liked were in galleries, some by Pompidou and some near Montorgueil and les Halles

We differentiate street art from graffiti by looking at the subject matter. Graffiti is really predicated on the formation of the letter. It is, above all, a text-based art form. Graffiti started as a teenage art movement, in which the youth were embellishing fonts and styles of writing that they were learning in school. Street art, meanwhile, is more mural based.

For many street artists, including household names like Keith Haring, Banksy, and Shepard Fairey, art is inseparable from activism. How does street art function politically in a way that other fine art does not?

In the early days and even today, there are purists who only consider true graffiti to be letters surreptitiously painted in the streets. Artists like Cey Adams were prolific in seeing this work as something beyond illegal lettering styles in the street. He was extremely forward thinking about the impact of graffiti as a legitimate art form.

Banksy has always wanted his street-art pieces to remain in their original contexts, and it is important to note that they will not be authenticated by the artist or his team if they have been removed.

Around Graça, you can spot references to the Carnation Revolution that removed the Estado Novo regime in murals by the likes of Shepard Fairey (the street artist behind the global Obey phenomenon). There are nods to literary figures here, too, like the psychedelic illustration of the poet Fernando Pessoa by AkaCorleone on Rua Damasceno Monteiro.

It pays to time a trip to coincide with the urban art festival MURO in July. A who's who of national and international artists arrive to creatively revamp a new Lisbon neighborhood every year. For tours that explore the background stories behind landmark pieces of street art, contact Lisbon Street Art Tours, or better still, join one of their spray-painting workshops.

Since the beginning of this month, Banksy's self proclaimed residence on the streets of New York, which he has named "Better Out Than In", has produced at least one new spectacle-inducing feat each day. Each work of art is created or installed in the middle of the night, and at some point the next day is posted on Banksy's website. Chaos then ensues, as residents, tourists and journalists alike go out in throngs to find (and snap souvenir photos) of the new piece.

Now granted, Banksy is not in need of money, unlike many of the street artists he identifies with. He is estimated to have a net worth upwards of $20 million, and recently discussed the internal struggle of profiting from his artwork with the Village Voice, stating that "commercial success is a mark of failure for a graffiti artist." Many call him a sell-out, however, if it was not for his early (and very profitable) successes, he would not have the financial freedom to use his artwork and notoriety to get his point of view across.

So, what do you do if you wake up tomorrow morning, the lucky "owner" of Banksy's latest creation? Congratulations, you are now in the moral dilemma of a lifetime. The mural could sell for well over a million dollars at auction, should you wish to cash in on it. Do you break out the excavator and call Sotheby's? Do you preserve it for public enjoyment with security guards, metal gates or Plexiglas? Or, you could let it go organically the way of most street art - destroyed by a fresh coat of paint, another street artist with his own vision, or a city employee wielding a buffer.

The limited edition Banksquiat silkscreen print was my favourite artwork from Gross Domestic Product and the one I applied to buy. Alas, I never made it past the art gods gamekeeper Adam Bloom.Banksy street art prints

The Sims 3 University Life comes with the Street Art skill. Practicing this skill will naturally push your Sim's influence level with the Rebel social group. The new Avant Garde trait pairs well with this skill, boosting your Sim's skill gain rates and giving them a street art kit upon starting the game.

Leveling Street ArtBuy a street art bag from buy mode > study tab > hobbies and skills. They're cheap, but you won't be able to make much money early on. In fact, most jobs are risky and could cost you a $1,000 fine if your Sim gets arrested. The best way to level would probably be to use the ground/walls on your home lot to make small/medium murals, much as you'd level the painting skill for efficiency. 041b061a72
